Effective January 1, 2020, home inspectors in New Mexico must be licensed. The New Mexico Regulation & Licensing Department is still in the process of creating a board and writing rules. Please check back for updated information for new licensees.

NEW JERSEY HOME INSPECTOR LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A NEW JERSEY HOME INSPECTOR

Home Inspection License Expiration: Every two years

REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A NEW HAMPSHIRE HOME INSPECTOR

Home Inspection License Expiration: Biennially on last day of the licensee’s month of birth

REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A NEVADA HOME INSPECTOR

Nevada home inspection education hours: 40 hours
Exam Required: NHIE
Inspections: Observe at least 25 home inspections performed by a certified master inspector or approved instructor
Application Fee: $350 (other fees may apply)
Insurance Requirements: E&O insurance of at least $100,000 and liability insurance of at least $100,000
Notarized application, background check, and fingerprinting are required
Minimum age requirement: 18
High School Diploma or GED required

Home Inspection License Expiration: Every two years

REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A MISSISSIPPI HOME INSPECTOR

Mississippi home inspection education hours: 60 hours
Exam Required: NHIE
Application Fee: $175 (other fees may apply)
Insurance Requirements: Carry $250,000 per occurrence in General Liability Insurance and $250,000 per occurrence in E&O Insurance
Notarized application is required
Background check is not required, but applicants must disclose
Fingerprints are not required
Minimum age requirement: 21
High School Diploma or GED is required

Home Inspection License Expiration: Every two years, from date of issuance
