Massachusetts home inspection education hours: 75 hours
Inspections: 25 home inspections in the presence of a licensed home inspector
Exam Required: NHIE
Application Fee: $225
Minimum age requirement: 18
Insurance Requirements: E&O for a minimum of $250,000
Passport sized photo taken within one year is required
Notarized application and a background check is required. Fingerprints are not required. No minimum age requirement.
High School Diploma or GED is required

Louisiana home inspection education hours: 90 hours
Standards of practice report writing seminar by LSBHI
Inspections: 30 hours of hands-on +10 hours/10 live inspections
Exam Required: NHIE
Application Fee: $200 (other fees may apply)
Minimum age requirement: 18
Insurance Requirements: E&O Insurance for $300,000 (max deductible $5000) and General Liability Insurance for $300,000 (max deductible $5000)
Bond: $25,000
Notarized application is required
Background check and fingerprints are not required
High School Diploma or GED is required

Home Inspection License Expiration: Annually on last day of anniversary month

Kentucky home inspection education hours: 64 hours
Inspections: 3 unpaid inspections under the supervision of a Kentucky licensed home inspector
Exam Required: NHIE
Application Fee: $250 (other fees may apply)
Insurance Requirements: General liability coverage for at least $250,000
Background check required: Kentucky State Police and FBI
Minimum age requirement: 18 years old
Notarized application and fingerprints are not required
High School Diploma or GED is required

Indiana home inspection education hours: 60 hours
Inspections: 12 hours of practical experience included in part of the 60 hours

Application Fee: $50 (other fees may apply)
Insurance Requirements: General liability coverage for at least $100,000
Notarized application, background check, and fingerprints are not required.
Minimum age requirement: 18 years old
High School Diploma or GED is required
